ENERGY SAVING THERMAL INSULATION AND PROTECTIVE COATINGS
The thermal insulation coatings are powerful insulators and also prevent corrosion and CUI along with resistance to UV, moisture, harsh chemicals and mold, and fungi growth. A significant economic benefit is realized from the consistent performance since there is resistance to degradation that occurs with outmoded methods. The energy savings in sustainable manufacturing applications can be between 10%-25% and between 20%-40% for roofs and building envelopes.
These protective coatings can also greatly reduce the maintenance and replacement costs for the Oil and Gas Industry for long asset lifespans, due to their long life and the potential for visual inspection of your assets if the translucent solutions are chosen.

FAQ
The surface needs to be clean and dry prior to application. For roofs, this can mean power washing, or simple cleaning for walls/ceilings; for industrial equipment a hand tool clean can be done. Surfaces with pre-existing paint should have any flaking paint removed and the surface should be free of other contaminants such as grease, oil, dust, etc.. Full information is included in our Application Handbooks which are shipped with each order.
1. Our Heat Shield™ EPX-H2O is a 2-part epoxy that has chemical resistance in addition to the thermal insulation and anti-corrosion properties. A typical application would be approximately 6-8 coats of the EPX, depending upon temperature needs. The EPX comes in either a dark grey or white color with a pebbled surface. Is also has the fastest cure time of all our products, just 1-2 days (coating can be in use while curing).
2. Our Heat Shield™ High Heat is a 1-part acrylic latex that provides thermal insulation and anti-corrosion properties. A typical application would be 10-12 coats, depending upon temperature. The High Heat is clear over surfaces of about 170F and below and opaque when applied to hotter surfaces. It has a smooth finish. The full cure time is 30-60 days (coating can be in use while curing).
Because Synavax™ coatings are water-based, the cure time is very important. During that time the excess moisture is dissipating from the material, and as that happens the coating achieves better thermal conductivity, reaching the optimum once cure is complete. Moisture related issues such as high humidity, can cause cure time to increase, and heat can reduce cure time. In the lab when they are testing samples, they usually dry them in a low heat oven at approx. 125F-150F to accelerate cure time. They weigh the samples every few days, and once they stop losing weight (reach a steady state weight) that indicates that the cure is complete.
The expected lifespan of the coatings is 5-10 years in outdoor environments and 10+ years (can be the lifetime of the building) in indoor environments.
